Spribo created an enterprise-class platform that combines the visions and technologies of the Social Web (Web 2.0) and the Semantic Web (Web 3.0) under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) delivery model to remotely access a knowledge base and the various applications that make up the cloud service safely and efficiently.

The Spribo project was supported by public innovation funds and private funds to create a semantic engine used by the knowledge networks of all iCluster project initiatives, enabling the concept of Matchmaking Tool.

The scope and main characteristics of this innovation project, which had an anticipated vision of the evolution of the Semantic Web and had not yet been consolidated by the end of the three phases of the iCluster project, included:

  • Multi-language domain models (i.e., ontologies) applied to the representation of social attributes (e.g., identity, relationships, conversations, etc.) and social content (e.g., objects, posts, messages, comments, etc.)

  • A proprietary service-oriented semantic architecture

  • A standards-based semantic engine for storing and processing domain knowledge models

  • Knowledge networking management tools

  • Software interfaces for accessibility, portability, and social media aggregation (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Google, Yahoo, etc.)

  • Semantic-Social Web applications to interact and share information among members through the knowledge base

  • Multimedia content management system with semantic query

  • Web portal to create online communities and publish Web applications driven by the knowledge base through different access devices

  • Global class IT infrastructure to deliver the service through cloud computing, with scalability and guaranteed quality of service
